Federal Update for June 12-16 [Foresight Law+Policy]


  • The President nominated Peter Oppenheim to serve as Assistant Secretary of Education for Legislation and Congressional Affairs. Oppenheim currently serves as the Education Policy Director and Counsel for the majority staff of the Senate HELP Committee and was previously an aide for Senator Alexander (TN).
  • The Department of Education hired Adam Kissel to serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Higher Education Programs. Kissel was previously employed at the Koch Foundation and the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education.
  • Hanna Skandera, New Mexico Secretary of Education, announced her resignation from the position at the end of this month.
