National Leadership for Social Justice Certification

In one way or another, every student is unique. Meeting the needs of every student, or all students, is a challenge confronting education leaders nationwide. Educators have the opportunity to shape the next generation of leaders and to make the most of that opportunity; school systems must be able to transform themselves, drawing on the principles of equity and social justice.

The Equity and Social Justice Certification, powered by the National Association of School Superintendents (NASS) in collaboration with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), is a comprehensive professional development offering for educators at all levels. Participants will learn how to address the unique needs of every student by taking a holistic approach to cultural proficiency, community engagement, accountability to learning, as well as data-driven instruction. Additionally, this certification will give participants the tools to confront challenges like racial inequities, bias, barriers facing students, and how to identify stakeholders and student advocates. Learning will take place online beginning in October of 2017 and completed in October of 2018. Educators from the classroom to the district office can benefit from this curriculum, and district teams are encouraged to participate.

We encourage you to read through the Course Outline to get a sense of what you will learn, to help make a difference in the lives of the children you are charged with.

Registration for the 2017-18 cohort begins October 2, 2017 and is closed. Those interested in being part of the 2018-19 certification cohort, can contact NASS at or call (855) 525-8110.
