NASS Leadership for Equity and Social Justice 400

In one way or another, every student is unique. Meeting the needs of every student, or all students, is a challenge confronting education leaders nationwide. Educators have the opportunity to shape the next generation of leaders and to make the most of that opportunity; school systems must be able to transform themselves, drawing on the principles of equity and social justice.

The Equity and Social Justice Certification, powered by the National Association of School Superintendents (NASS) in collaboration with the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), is a comprehensive professional development offering for educators at all levels. This program will provide each participant with the tools required to develp an Equity and Social Justice Plan to implement in their setting, whether that is the classroom, the school or the school district. Each plan is based on the principles inherent in social justice and the plan will only be the starting point for each participant's work. Following the development of their plan, participants will be assigned a job-alike mentor who will work with the participant in implementing their plan. At six months and again at one year, participants will meet to review and discuss their work in implementing the plan.

This class is the 2nd of 2 classes in the Social Justice Program and runs September 30 - December 9, 2019. This session is eligible for 3 credits from the University of California Riverside.
